Article's Scientific Prestige: Measuring the Impact of Individual Articles in the Web of Science

We performed a citation analysis on the Web of Science publications consisting more than 63 million articles and 1.45 billion citations 254 subjects from 1981 to 2020. proposed Article's Scientific Prestige (ASP) metric compared this number (#Cit) journal grade in measuring scientific impact individual large-scale hierarchical multi-disciplined network. In contrast #Cit, ASP, that is computed based eigenvector centrality, considers both direct indirect citations, provides steady-state evaluation cross different disciplines. found ASP #Cit are not aligned for most articles, with growing mismatch amongst less cited articles. While metrics reliable evaluating prestige such as Nobel Prize winning tends provide persuasive rankings when highly cited. The grade, eventually determined by few unable properly reflect references coauthors relevant impact, but do make difference.
